Auditor / Staff Accountant / Income Tax Preparer

This position is located in Pueblo, CO

CPA firm is seeking a full-time auditor / tax preparer / staff accountant. This position is primarily auditing and tax preparation, with bookkeeping, and payroll services as needed. The right candidate will be personable; detail oriented; adapts easily to changing deadlines; flexible to changing duties and priorities based on client needs; able to prioritize; able to effectively communicate with other employees to efficiently manage workflow.

Responsibilities include:

  • Auditing

  • Prepare year-end financial statements

  • Prepare income tax returns from clients' accounting records

  • Prepare payrolls, payroll tax returns, sales tax returns

  • Assist bookkeeping staff as needed


  • Degree in accounting or previous experience in public accounting

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products

  • Ability to organize, manage multiple tasks, and complete tasks efficiently is required

  • Ability to work with various clients and their staffs is required

Positive attributes:

  • Familiarity using QuickBooks, Sage, and Lacerte Software

  • Experience with payroll preparation and knowledge of payroll tax laws

  • Experience with sales and use tax preparation and knowledge of applicable laws

  • Experience with income tax preparation and knowledge of federal and state laws

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
